Deadly Fairie was started by Charlotte Benfield aka. Miss Pixie Pocket on the 3rd May 2009, it was actually going to be Deadly Nightshade but a spur of the moment decision changed everything.

 

Charlotte starting designing clothing at the age of 8, having decided she wanted a blood red velvet evening gown, complete with revealing neckline and bell skirt (think "Gone with the wind") unfortunately not being able to sew or having a sewing machine or having anything to put in the neckline at 8 it was a project doomed to failure.

 

At the age of 9 she badgered her parents into buying her a sewing machine and getting sewing lessons, though learning to make a very good scrunchy she didn't actually learn much else and it wasn't until her fourth form sewing class that she actually learnt the fundamentals of sewing, after making some clothes for herself she decided to make some clothes and sell them through a store in Christchurch,

 

In June of 1998 at 15 Charlotte took some samples to Kate at Wyrd Gallery and started selling her clothes thus starting a good friendship and business, her first label Belly Clothing took off.

Keeping her in booze and ciggerette money through high school, upon finishing seventh form she decided that she would take it a bit more seriously and design clothes for a career.

Over the next few she worked very hard, buying a new industrial overlocker at 19, then getting an industrial sewing machine at 20 from her parents.

But Charlotte was starting to burn out, it had been great but she felt it was time to look for a job in the real world. At 21 Charlotte started working at the CD store barrington, after working there for six months she felt it was time to see the world a bit so she headed across the ditch to Sydney.

 

After four month of hanging out with Candy kids, Industrial Cyber Punks and some very cool people, Charlotte was ready to come home, Sydney had changed her view of fashion (not just changed it, but picked it up, shaken it and ripped it apart).
